New President for the PCC
We are delighted to announce that Michael Johnson, Chief Executive of the British Printing Industries Federation (BPIF) has accepted our invitation to be our President for 2009.
"I regard being this year’s President as a great honour," says Michael. "This is a very exciting time for the charity as it works towards the single goal of increasing the number of people it helps."
He intends to use his term to help us engage more widely with the printing industry and has set himself the personal goal of doubling the number of people we support each year.
Michael brings invaluable industry skills to the role. He served in the Royal Navy for 31 years, retiring as Commodore in 1996. He held numerous naval commands, including the restructuring of the Devonport Naval Dockyard to create a more competitive organisation.
His distinguished naval career was followed by three years as Chief Executive of the Sports Industries Federation, turning it into a dynamic organisation supported by the industry’s major players. He joined the BPIF, the printing industry’s trade association, in 2001 as Chief Executive.
"Michael shares our vision for the PCC," says Stephen Gilbert, our Chief Executive, "and we believe 2009 will be a milestone in terms of more people benefiting from the financial support and advice we can provide."
