The PCC is controlled by its Council which sets budgets and monitors income and expenditure; authorises expenditure outside those budgets; and takes strategic and policy decisions.
Membership of the Council is usually by co-option. Thereafter Council members have to be re-elected every three years and have to retire after their 70th birthday.
Most of the more detailed work is carried out by the various committees, which are all, in effect, sub-committees of the Council. They cover the two sheltered housing schemes, the nursing home, PR and events, staff and investment. Other committees are set up as necessary.
The Corporation's Directorate based at Three Bridges in West Sussex deals with administration and accounts, beneficiaries and generally oversees all its activities. The staff based there are the Director and Secretary, Operations Manager, Financial Administrator, P.A. to the Director and Welfare Administrator.
Each of the sheltered homes has a Warden, Relief Warden and Gardener/Handyman.
Some 50 people are employed at Butlin House headed by a resident Home Manager.
